NYS Citizens' Coalition for Children, Inc. Presents:
"Knowledge
will forever govern ignorance.
The 2004 LINK Family Fall Gathering Friday and Saturday September 24-25, 2004 Cortland Holiday Inn Cortland, NY
|
|
Gathering The 4th Annual LINK Family Fall Gathering has been developed in response to what foster parents have told us they want and Need to Know to participate as full members of the permanency planning team. Special emphasis will be placed on providing attendees with the information they need to understand the legal framework of the child welfare and family court systems. Small group work and activities will provide opportunities to practice the advocacy skills of communication and educating others. The weekend format will offer participants the time and opportunity to learn from and about each other in a casual interactive format designed to stimulate creative thinking about all too common problems. Bring your jeans, dreams, and questions and join us for a thought-provoking, relaxing, and inspiring weekend. To register for the LINK Family Gathering, please complete and return the registration form on the next page. The invitation is open to all New York State foster parents for a registration fee of $20.00 per person. Grant funding will cover meals and overnight accommodations for two LINK parents from each of the Syracuse Region 3 LINK project counties. Funding to cover lodging and meal costs may be available for additional Region 3 foster parents, depending on the number of registrants. Space is limited, and we are establishing a waiting list for those who need "scholarships", so let us know your plans as soon as possible! Please contact Susie Collins, NYSCCC Program Director, 607-272-0034 or scollins@nysccc.org, to discuss availability of grant funds and your meal and lodging needs. Although funding is only available for the Syracuse area counties, all NYS foster parents are encouraged to join in a weekend of education, support, and fun tailored to your needs. Lodging and meal charges for non funded participants are $32.50 and $37.50 respectively, bringing the price to well under $100 for the whole event (depending on room arrangements). We encourage you to bring as many folks from your network as you can. |
