New York State Awards $2.7 Million in
2006 Grants for Post Adoption Services

As of January 1, 2006 eleven new post adoption services programs are available for families in many areas of the state. The programs are funded with federal TANF dollars (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families). The funds were appropriated by the NYS legislature in the 2005-2006 state budget as a result of NYSCCC advocacy and the advocacy of other supporters around the state. We are very happy for this step in the right direction. We will continue our advocacy, working towards the day when post adoption services will be available to any family wherever they live in the state.

Congratulations to the following agencies that received the 2006 post adoption services awards. We encourage adoptive parents to get in touch with the agency in your area. Ask questions and provide input to help ensure the programs are responsive to your needs and the needs of others in your parent groups and communities.
