Books:
Lifebooks: Creating a Treasure for the Adopted Child by Beth O'Malley. The “bible” for assisting parents in creating their child’s lifebook.
Talking With Young Children about Adoption, by Mary Watkins & Susan Fisher. Examines the parents’ and child’s experiences relative to adoption loss. The many stories affirm the experience of parents and children coming to terms with a child’s history and adoption. Great developmental information. Some material may be more representative of international and domestic infant adoption, less on adoption from foster care.
Telling the Truth to Your Adopted or Foster Child: Making Sense of the Past by Betsy Keefer & Jayne Schooler. Helpful advice for dealing with sensitive topics.
