$2,500 Mini Grants Available for
Support Projects for Adoptive and Foster Families Parenting
Children with Developmental Disabilities
The NYS Citizens’ Coalition for Children (NYSCCC) is pleased to announce the availability of mini grants for community-based organizations to develop local support and information networks for adoptive and foster parents of children with developmental disabilities. NYSCCC will provide mini grants consisting of a $2,500 award, scholarships to attend our statewide conference, and onsite training and technical assistance to organizations in four (4) Upstate New York counties. The funded organizations will form a project planning team composed of adoptive/foster parents and local developmental disabilities service providers to plan and implement local support projects to benefit adoptive and foster families. This program is made possible thanks to a grant to NYSCCC from the NYS Developmental Disabilities Planning Council.
The mini grants are being offered to encourage local organizations and parent groups to develop local support and information services for adoptive and foster families who are parenting children with developmental disabilities. The $2,500 mini grants are intended to fund a wide variety of new or expanded local support services and activities, such as, information and referral services, mentoring or buddy programs, warm lines, parent support groups, children’s groups, professionally staffed therapeutic groups, newsletters, social events, child care exchanges, and educational programs.
